The 1928 Microscope - Allen Memorial Hospital School for Nurses First Edition
Enjoy a look back in time at the very first edition of the Allen Memorial Hospital School for Nursing’s yearbook dating back to 1928. Generously donated by the family of Fran Mitchell, class of 1930 and freshmen in 1928, we get a glimpse of what life was like for nursing students in the late 1920’s. From the senior class quotes, to the calendar of events, to the photos of Allen Hospital, and every story and poem in between, this is truly a treasure.
The foreword notes, “The Class of 1928 takes pleasure in presenting to you the First Annual, “The Microscope,” of the School for Nurses, Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa. If in the years to come this carries you back to training days, if it revives memories of hours spent in the ministry of healing, if it recalls pleasant and sacred associations, if it keeps alive and warm the loyalty and love we cherish for the School for Nurses in A.M.H., we shall be content. We wish to express our appreciation to all who co-operated in this, out first venture.”
