Students whose first language is not English must provide one of the following forms of English proficiency for admission to Allen College: 1. A TOEFL score of 580 on the paper based test or 237 on the computer based test, or 92 on the iBT. Scores must be officially sent from ETS; the institutional code is 8725. 2. Complete one semester of college level English composition, 1 semester of college level math, 1 semester of college level science, and 1 semester of college level reading from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university with a minimum grade of B. 3. Obtain an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum overall band score (academic track) of 6.0. 4. Obtain a Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) grade of A or B. 5. Obtain a Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) grade of A or B for unrestricted admission. 6. Obtain a Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) minimum score of 80 for unrestricted admission. 7. Obtain an Advanced Placement International English Language (APIEL) score or 4 or 5. 8. Obtain a General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) pass in English with a grade of A, B, or C from one of the five British-based examining boards. 9. Obtain an ACT Assessment English Test minimum score of 20. 10. Obtain a SAT I Verbal minimum score of 460. 11. Obtain a SAT II English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) minimum score of 965. 12. Obtain an International Baccalaureate (IB) grade of 4, 5, 6, or 7 in English A1 or A2 at the Higher Lever (HL) or Standard Level (SL). |
