Welcome to Allen College!

Allen College uses a holistic admission review. The process balances academic achievement, work experience, extra-curricular involvement, leadership, community service, diversity, as well as, other applicable life experiences.

Allen College offers programs in nursing and a variety of health sciences.   

Each academic program has specific admissions criteria.

ALLEN COLLEGE APPLICATION REVIEW DATES 

Allen College does not have specific application deadlines.  However, application review and acceptance begins on a specific date for each program.  Therefore, programs may fill after the initial review date.  For the best opportunity, applicants are encouraged to have all required documents submitted prior to dates listed below:

ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN RADIOGRAPHY (ASR)

Program begins once each year in the summer.  Applicant review and admission happens twice each year in October and February.  After February, applicant review and admission will continue on a monthly basis until the program is full.  Please note the program may fill after February reviews.

BACHELOR OF HEALTH SCIENCES (BHS)

  • MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE (MLS)
  • NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY (NMT)
  • DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY (DMS)
  • PUBLIC HEALTH (PH)
  • DENTAL HYGIENE (DH)

Programs begin once each year in the fall.  Applicant review and admission happens twice each year in October and February.  After February, applicant review and admission will continue on a monthly basis until the program is full.  Please note the program may fill after February reviews.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (BSN)

  • TRADITIONAL, UPPER DIVISION OPTION - begins in fall and spring
  • ACCELERATED OPTION- begins in summer and fall
  • RN-BSN – begins in fall and spring

Fall reviews begin February 1
Spring and Summer reviews and admission happen twice each year beginning June 1 and August 1

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (MSN)

MSN tracks begin in fall and spring

Fall reviews begin February 1
Spring reviews begin September 1

MASTER OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY (MOT)

Program begins once each year in the fall.  Initial admissions will begin in April 2015.

DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE (DNP)

Program begins once each year in the fall.  Admission is on a rolling basis.

DOCTOR OF EDUCATION IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION (EdD)

Program begins in the fall and spring.  Admission is on a rolling basis.

Applications will not be reviewed until all required materials are received.

Allen College considers admitting applicants living out of state or country. 

Applicants and current students must be aware select states require approval prior to Allen College offering online courses and clinical study in those states.  Additionally, a state certification or governing licensing board may also require prior approval for an Allen College student to engage in clinical study within the state.  Therefore, Allen College cannot guarantee out-of- state clinical or practicum placement.  Allen College also cannot guarantee students maintaining residency in a state other than Iowa will be allowed to enroll in online courses.

Applicants planning to maintain residency in any state other than Iowa, and planning to enroll in an online course or engage in clinical study in any state other than Iowa, should consult an admission counselor prior to applying to Allen College.
