 The Financial Aid Process

  1. Apply for Admission to Allen College
  2. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after January 1; it is available at fafsa.ed.gov
  3. Complete Allen College Financial Aid Questionnaire
  4. Submit Award Letter and Budget Worksheet
  5. Loan Follow-up

Financial assistance is available to Allen College students through a variety of sources. For consideration of all available aid, it is recommended to have the FAFSA submitted by April 15 of the preceding academic year. Allen College gives priority consideration for assistance to applicants who have all the required forms on file in the Allen College Financial Aid Office on or before May 1.

Types of Aid Available

You may be eligible for:

  • Grants Iowa Tuition Grant, Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
  • Scholarships Allen Scholarship applications are available from November 1 - January 15.
  • Outside scholarship opportunities are listed at www.fastweb.com.
  • Loans Federal Direct Stafford Loans, Federal Parent PLUS Loans, Federal Nursing Student Loan, Federal Perkins Loans, Allen/McElroy Loan
  • Workstudy part-time positions on campus

Healthcare providers are in demand. Student Loan Forgiveness programs are commonly offered through employers.
