Allen College Receives Grants to Support ACE-SAP Free Clinic

February 22, 2013

The Allen College ACE-SAP Free Clinic has recently received a $12,000 grant from the Northeast Iowa Community Foundation.  The Community Foundation’s gift will allow the Clinic to provide multiple services to needy citizens of Black Hawk County.  Over the past 14 months, the Clinic has received grants totaling $70,353.  All of the funds to operate this Clinic come from gifts from generous donors.  None of these funds are used to support non-patient costs which are covered by in-kind contributions of Allen College and the Salvation Army.   Care is provided by the College’s faculty and graduate students, led by Dr. Ruselle DeBonis.  In 2012 the Clinic treated 1,098 patients, a 29% increase over the previous year.  The value of the Clinic’s donated services in 2012 were estimated to be $148,000.
