Allen Faculty Member Barb Seible Selected for Honor

Allen College faculty member Barb Seible has been selected as one of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses for 2009. Honorees are nominated for their courage, competence and commitment to patients and the nursing profession. The honorees will be recognized at a special celebration in Des Moines on May 3, 2009. Nurses selected for this honor represent many sectors of health care, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, schools of nursing, and school and office nurses. Similar celebrations are held in the states of Louisiana, North Carolina and Texas.

Professor Seible’s education includes a diploma in nursing from Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and the B.S.N and MSN degrees from the University of Dubuque. She is also certified (CNOR) by the Association of Operating Room Nurses. Professor Seible joined Allen Hospital in 1970 and been a member of the Allen College community since 1996. She has taught a variety of courses for Allen College and currently leads the College’s RN to BSN track. Professor Seible’s selection for this honor brings to seven the number of Allen College faculty members who have been selected to be among the 100 Great Nurses of Iowa. The other honorees include Jane Hasek, Nancy Kramer, and Diane Young, Adisa Kudumovic, Darlene Shipp, Mary Brown.
