Allen College and Central College Sign Accelerated BSN Agreements

December 15, 2009
Allen College and Central College of Pella, Iowa, have entered into a cooperative agreement that will allow Central College students to transfer seamlessly into the 15-month accelerated option of Allen College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.  Under terms of the agreement, qualified Central College students must complete all required general education coursework at Central College, typically in three years of study, and then transfer to Allen College where they can complete the BSN degree in 15 consecutive months of study.   Transferring students also have the option of earning a baccalaureate degree from Central College upon completion of the BSN degree if they have also satisfied requirements for the Central College degree.

According to Allen College Chancellor Dr. Jerry Durham, the agreement represents a “win-win” for both institutions and students since Central College does not offer a nursing degree and Allen College is eager to identify highly qualified students for its accelerated BSN program.  The transfer agreement takes effect immediately.  Students wanting more information about the arrangement between the two institutions should contact the admission office of either Allen College or Central College.

Allen College is regionally-accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.  The BSN program is also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
