Admission Requirements (RN-MSN)

Students who apply for admission are considered on the basis of probable success as determined by:

  1. Declaration of articulation option. (Allen College RN - BSN Articulation Plan)
  2. A minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 college credit hours completed. (Effective for Spring 2014 applicants and thereafter.)
  3. Meet Computer literacy standards.
  4. Current licensure as a registered nurse in Iowa. Individuals are currently licensed when licensed in another state and recognized for licensure in Iowa pursuant to the nurse licensure compact contained in Iowa Code chapter 152E.1.   5. Courses in community health nursing, statistics and nursing research at the baccalaureate level.
  6. Three professional/academic letters of reference.
  7. A biographical sketch.
  8. A statement of personal and professional goals.
  9. Applicants whose first language is not English must provide one form of English Proficiency.
  10. Copy of current CPR certification card.
  11. Applicants for the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program must also have completed ACLS and have recent acute care experience (within the past two years) prior to enrolling in their first clinical course.
