Allen Institutional Scholarship Application Deadline for the 2014-2015 academic year:  January 31, 2014 (prior to 11:30 p.m.). The application deadline for the 2014-2015 academic year has passed.

Allen College institutional scholarship applications for the 2014-2015 academic year were accepted from November 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014.

The general scholarship application form is used for all scholarships offered through Allen College - UnityPoint Health for the health science and nursing schools.  (List of Scholarships)
  • To be considered for Allen College scholarships, scholarship applicants must be enrolled at Allen College or accepted to Allen College at the time the Scholarship Selection Committee meets to select recipients.
  • Applicants with a background matching the criteria for scholarships offered through Allen College will be considered eligible for those scholarships.
  • To be considered an eligible applicant for 2014-2015, you must attend Allen College summer 2014 and/or fall 2014 and/or spring 2015.
  • Your scholarship application will remain active for the academic year until final awards have been made for all scholarships.

This scholarship application does not pertain to any scholarships offered by community, civic, private, or other groups and organizations outside Allen College or the Allen Foundation.


  1. Complete the online application form. This form is only available during the scholarship application time frame, which begins in the fall semester and ends in January the following spring semester. Application must be submitted online by January 31, 2014 (prior to 11:30 p.m.). 
  2. You will be required to submit two (2) professional and/or academic references online from persons most familiar with your background and abilities. Your references need to reflect your specific qualifications as they relate to the applicable scholarships for which you are applying. These qualifications will be carefully examined to determine your eligibility based on the individual donor's criteria. The reference information can be accessed when you apply online through the "Request" section of the application and an electronic message will be sent to the people you select to submit references. These people must complete the electronic reference form and submit electronically by January 31, 2014 (prior to 11:30 p.m.).
  3. You will be asked to create a sign in name and password. This will allow you to begin the scholarship application process and complete it at a different time. 
  4. After you login for the first time select the "View All Scholarship" button on the right. You will not be able to use the search features.
  5. Select "View Details and Apply" and then "Apply". Follow the instructions for completing every section of the application. You may logout and complete the application at a later date.
  6. If you do not complete the application in one sitting, after logging in to complete the application you will select the "My Applications" tab to access your application.
  7. You must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at by March 1, 2014. You may submit a FAFSA with estimated tax information to meet the March 1, 2014 deadline. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions or for assistance. (Students who do not have current FAFSA information available may not be eligible for Allen College scholarships.)

It is your responsibility to verify you have submitted the scholarship application and two references prior to the deadline. You can do this by accessing the online scholarship application and monitoring your status. After you have completed and submitted your scholarship application, your status should be "submitted" and reflect 100% completed.

NOTE: Reducing your enrollment from full-time to part-time after you are awarded a scholarship may impact your scholarship award.
