Breanne Kraus
Allen College Class of 2016
Employment History
Right after graduating I moved to Omaha, Nebraska. I started my nursing career at Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy on the Progressive Care Unit and am currently still there.
What led you to pursue your education at Allen College?
I received my LPN at Hawkeye Community College and wanted to eventually receive my BSN. I had heard very good things about the challenging, yet successful, nursing program at Allen College and knew about their high passing rates for the state board exam.
Accomplishments, awards, or proud moments
About a year ago, I received the CUMC – Bergan Mercy Daisy Award which was an amazing honor! I am currently working on getting my Progressive Care Certified Nurse certificate. I have recently taken on the role of being charge nurse and orienting new hires.
What led you to this career path?
I knew I wanted to be a nurse ever since I could remember and never questioned it. Growing up I was in and out of the hospital quite a bit. My older sister had 16 brain surgeries while I was in grade school. It was tough to see what she went through but I wanted to be just like the compassionate nurses who have made her the healthy and happy person she is today. I also have an aunt who is now a CRNA in Spokane, Washington that I have always looked up to. I have always wanted to be just like her and have the drive and motivation she has to help others.
