Allen College Class of 2019 - BSN

Employment History

ICU nurse with HCA Houston Healthcare - Clear Lake

Recently, Emily has been working on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic as an ICU nurse and notes that each case has been very different. "Working with critical Covid patients has been an eye-opening experience. The process these patients go through is something I've never seen before. It's forcing us to become innovative and think outside of the box to treat these patients - not only on a medical level, but also a humanity level."

What led you to pursue your education at Allen College?

I wanted to get the best education I possibly could. I knew Allen College prepared their students well and their NCLEX scores prove that. It is also a small school that I knew would personally invest in me as a student.

Any accomplishments, awards, proud moments?

I received a nomination for a Daisy Award from a family that I connected really well with! Connecting with any patient or family is always a proud moment for me. My care is for each of them and it shows that I am doing my job. When they are touched by my care personally it makes my heart glow.

What led you to your exact career path?

I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field, but when I helped take care of my grandma that had Alzheimer's it made me realize I had a passion for nursing. In nursing school, I loved my ICU clinical rotation. I loved the adrenaline rush and needed more of it!

Hobbies or Interests?

I love sitting by the pool, going to the beach, or just being outside! I also enjoy cheering for the Hawks!!
