Employment

I work on the orthopedic/urology inpatient unit at the University of Iowa. The University allows you to learn something new every day and constantly grow and improve as a nurse.

What led you to Allen College?

I fell in love with UNI and the partnership they have with Allen, so in high school I did an early application to Allen. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at both schools!

Accomplishments, awards, or proud moments: 

In November 2016 I received the University of Iowa’s Daisy Award which was an amazing honor and surprise. In February 2018 I earned  the Professional Recognition Program silver level, and in 2019 the gold level. In 2018 I also earned my Medical-Surgical certification. I continue to precept new nurses and students on my unit and love teaching.

Hobbies

I enjoy doing any kind of activity involving fabric- quilting, embroidery, etc. Traveling, camping, and visiting family. And even though I grew up a Cyclone fan, I have slowly grown to enjoy cheering on the Hawkeyes.

Advice for current Allen students?

Work hard, stay focused, and find a study buddy!!!
