Dr. Ortiz joined the Allen College School of Nursing faculty in 2012. She holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Health Professions Education from Allen College, a Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) from Allen College, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Allen College. She is certified as a Nurse Educator (CNE). Her clinical nursing background is in community health having worked in Occupational Health. She has taught a variety of courses in the undergraduate and graduate level and in a face-to-face and on-line setting.

Dr. Ortiz’s area of interest for scholarship and research includes community and population health issues, education, and mentoring. She has published and presented at conferences on her research, “The Mentoring Experiences of Male Faculty in Nursing Programs”.
What do you enjoy most about teaching at Allen College?
I am grateful for the opportunity to teach at Allen College because of the close-knit community of faculty and students which leads to a personalized learning environment.
