Students in Radiography Lab

The highly respected Radiography program at Allen College develops health professionals with the skills and competencies to produce quality medical images. Radiographers use science, human anatomy, and physiology to create x-rays, CT (computed tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans. Hands-on clinical experiences allow practical application of knowledge.

Graduates are fully prepared for a healthcare career and may continue their education to earn a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree at Allen College.

ASR Applicants:

  • Applications for Summer 2027 are open and will be reviewed after the September 1, 2026 priority date.
  • Applications for Summer 2028 are open and will be reviewed after the September 1, 2027 priority date.
Admission Requirements

The ASR program begins once each year in a summer term (late July-early August).

 

Summer 2027 Applicants:

Enrollment is granted for a specific term, and all admission criteria must be maintained, including completion of Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology I and Anatomy & Physiology II with Labs prior to the start of the first fall term. 

Summer 2028 and beyond Applicants:

Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology I and Anatomy & Physiology II with Labs must be completed with grades prior to application review. A total of 16 credit hours must be successfully completed prior to starting the program.

Required application materials can be submitted as they are completed, but all materials must be received before admission consideration.

Summer 2027 Applicants:

Complete applicant files are reviewed after the September 1 priority date. Applications received after the priority date are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Summer 2028 and beyond Applicants:

Complete applicant files are reviewed after the September 1 priority date. Applications received after the priority date are reviewed on a rolling basis. Job Shadow experience will be required before application review.

Admission decisions take 3 to 4 weeks after the application is complete. 

General Education Prerequisites

General education prerequisite courses are taken at another regionally accredited institution and transferred to Allen College.

Radiography Curriculum

The ASR program begins once each year in a summer term. 

The program is two (2) years long and goes year-round. 58 credits are taken at Allen College during the program. The 22 general education credits are taken at another regionally accredited institution.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification

Graduates earning an associate degree in Radiography may apply to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification exam. Eligibility for certification requires that the applicant be of good moral character. Conviction of a misdemeanor or felony may indicate a lack of good moral character for the ARRT purposes. The ARRT conducts a thorough review of all convictions determining eligibility. Documentation for a review includes: a written personal explanation and court records verifying the conviction, the sentence and completion of the sentence.

Anything less than complete and total disclosure of any and all convictions will be considered as having provided false or misleading information to the ARRT. This is grounds for permanent denial of eligibility for certification. The ARRT may conduct criminal background searches whenever appropriate. Disciplinary action may be taken at any time upon discovery that disclosure was not complete.

Individuals considering enrollment in an educational program, or already enrolled, may submit a pre-application form to have the impact of convictions on eligibility evaluated. Pre-Application Review Forms may be requested from the Department of Regulatory services at the ARRT office.
