Scholarships

A scholarship is financial aid awarded to a student to help pay for education, typically based on academic achievement, financial need, community/volunteer/civic service and/or other criteria. Scholarships do not need to be repaid. 

Scholarships are often offered by institutions, private organizations and community groups. Each may have different eligibility requirements, deadlines and application process. Scholarship applications are often competitive, and not all applicants will receive an award.

Tips for Applying:

  • Read instructions carefully--requirements vary.
  • Submit all materials by the deadline.
  • Follow up on reference requests, if required.
  • Complete your FAFSA if financial need is a factor.
  • If applicable, include any interest in specialty areas or connections to donors' backgrounds, as some scholarships are designated for specific fields.

Types of Scholarships

Institutional Scholarships

Allen College Institutional Scholarships - applications accepted once a year

Allen College offers a robust scholarship program. Students submit one general online application to be considered for institutional scholarships. Applications are accepted once a year.

Scholarship applications for the 20267-2027 academic year were accepted through Tuesday, February 3, 2026, 4 p.m. (Central Standard Time). This covers students enrolled in one or more of the following semesters: summer 2026, fall 2026 and spring 2027. The scholarship application for the 2027-2028 academic year should open November/December 2026 through January 2027.

    Students are encouraged to find information about outside scholarship opportunities. Some additional resources are:

    Students pursuing a career in primary health care are eligible to receive funding for their education in exchange for practicing in rural, urban, and tribal communities with limited access to care, upon graduation and licensure. 1-year service commitment per scholarship year or partial scholarship year; 2-year minimum and 4-year maximum.
     
    The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program (LRP) offers primary medical, dental, and mental and behavioral health care clinicians the opportunity to have their student loans repaid, while earning a competitive salary, in exchange for providing health care in urban, rural, or tribal communities with limited access to care.
