Dr. Ortiz joined Allen College in December 2023. He is a native from Puerto Rico where he completed his physical therapy degree in 2000 obtaining his physical therapy licensure since then. Thereafter, he completed his MS and PhD in physical therapy at Texas Woman’s University-Houston, graduating in 2006. He has been teaching at CAPTE accredited programs since 2006. He is a board-certified sports physical therapist, certified strength & conditioning specialist, and Fellow of The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). His clinical expertise is in sports medicine and physical activity in people with chronic conditions, especially cancer survivors and those living with HIV. He is a member of the APTA, ACSM, American Association for Anatomy, and American Physiological Society.
