Dr. Ramey Creery

Dr. Creery joined the Occupational Therapy faculty as Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Assistant Professor in 2024. She values her experience as a generalist occupational therapist, having worked with adults across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient settings. Her clinical interests span a broad range of conditions and reflect a whole-person approach to health and well-being. She is particularly passionate about pelvic health and has experience working with adult women experiencing pelvic pain, incontinence, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction and prenatal and postpartum concerns. She also has a strong interest in neurorehabilitation and working with individuals who have experienced stroke, traumatic brain injury and other neurological conditions, driven by her interest in the brain, nervous system and neuroplasticity. Throughout her clinical practice, Dr. Creery has utilized a combination of therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, manual techniques, nervous system regulation strategies, education and lifestyle and behavioral modification to support patients in improving function, quality of life and overall well-being. Within academic practice, Dr. Creery is committed to developing and sustaining high-quality fieldwork experiences that support both students and fieldwork educators. Her future vision includes continued growth of fieldwork partnerships and educational opportunities, while also expanding student and community awareness of the breadth and value of occupational therapy’s scope of practice.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Allen College?
Having been part of UnityPoint Health – Waterloo since becoming an OT, I have come to develop a deep appreciation for the community we serve and feel proud to serve the community by assisting in the development of future OTs. The intimate atmosphere of Allen College provides the perfect setting for fostering meaningful connections within faculty and with students sharing in their growth and development. Occupational therapy is such a dynamic and ever-evolving profession, and with someone with a passion for lifelong learning, this quality, as well as the challenges of acquiring new skills and creating engaging ways to facilitate students’ understanding and application of new concepts is something that makes each day a rewarding experience.
