Virginia “Ginny” Henniges McBride graduated from Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1962, fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. Throughout her life, she remained committed to caring for and serving others.
Ginny volunteered as a nurse at schools, hospitals, hospices and an oncology clinic in the Milwaukee area. She also volunteered with Interfaith, helping older adults with transportation, errands and companionship and supported literacy efforts through weekly tutoring with her husband.
Ginny and her husband, Michael, were longtime supporters of Allen College. They were the first major contributors to the 1991 Gerard Hall fundraising campaign, and McBride Auditorium was named in their honor. They later made a major contribution to the Winter Hall fundraising campaign, resulting in the naming of McBride Classroom.
Through their generosity and scholarship endowment, Ginny and Mike sought to help future healthcare professionals achieve their dreams and extend the impact of compassionate care to others. Ginny passed away in October 2023, leaving a legacy of service, volunteerism and philanthropy that continues to benefit Allen College and its students.
