Allen College Volunteers Help Pack More Than 70,000 Meals at MLK Day of Service “Pack the Dome”

January 2026 – Waterloo, Iowa — Allen College students, faculty, staff, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Allen Foundation staff joined over 1,900 volunteers at the annual MLK Day of Service: Pack the Dome event, contributing to a major community effort to fight childhood hunger across northeast Iowa.

Allen College Secures Grant to Elevate Pediatric Emergency Training

WATERLOO – Allen College was awarded a $1,500 Community Development Grant from Aureon to acquire a specialized pediatric code cart for its Simulation Lab. This equipment will significantly enhance clinical education for student nurses, nurse practitioners and practicing nurses at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital.

Construction Begins on Allen College’s Simulation Lab Expansion

WATERLOO – Construction is underway on the expansion of the simulation lab by Allen College – UnityPoint Health. The expansion will add more than 8,000 square feet to the south side of McElroy Hall and essentially quadruple the current lab space. The addition will enhance simulated learning for the students in nursing and health sciences programs.
